FAQ

MYSELF IS MULTIPLE

FAQ - Myself is multiple

the puzzle

Who am I?!

Why are other people difficult to read?

What are the various parts inside me?

That is a vast question, one that only I can answer—and yet, most of us ask it.

Perhaps this is because there is no simple answer. We are multifaceted. We are sons and daughters. We are children, then adults. We are men or women. We are emotions. We are so many things, and these aspects of us evolve over time. Who we are today is likely to be different from who we will become in a few years.

So rather than trying to find a simple answer to such a complex question, why not embrace who we are now and let the rest unfold over time?

Another way to approach this is to think about who I aspire to be—and make that my North Star.
I do not need to know exactly who I am or why I am here to define the person I want to become. I do not need to be on a mission to save the world or end hunger to be a good person. I can start at my own level, by taking care of myself and the people I love—and creating a ripple effect from there.

Consider the night sky, with all its stars. How beautiful it is! There is no need to choose just one star: it is the combination of all of them that creates the beauty.
The same applies to who I am: I do not need to define myself by one aspect or reduce myself to a single idea. I can simply be—and enjoy being multifaceted.

Thinking processes are complex. They are influenced by the present moment but also by our past experiences. If we have had a bad day, we are less likely to be patient the next time a problem arises. While that could make sense if I have spent the day with the person, I still cannot know their personal representation of the world. To truly comprehend that, we would need to be inside their head—and the only head we can ever be inside of is our own.

The only way to get closer to understanding what others think is by asking them.
Then they may choose to share, hold back, or even offer a different version of the truth. Time will tell, and it is also up to me to interpret their responses—based on my perspective and my history with that person.

It is important to remember that just as I can change, other people evolve as well. What is true today may not hold tomorrow. Keeping the dialogue open, asking questions, and processing answers with an open mind are essential.

Understanding one another and showing empathy are the best ways to get closer to what someone else truly thinks. That, plus observing the actions they take, and how aligned it is with what they phrased.

I am many things, and this answer does not claim to capture it all.

To highlight a few key components:

I am a brain, feelings, and a body.
I am what I have lived and experienced, and how I understood those experiences.
I am the challenges I have overcome.
I am the good moments I have enjoyed.
I am loved by the people around me, and I love in others what I love in myself.
I am what I share and what I keep to myself.
I am my own potential, as I determine what I can do or become.
I am changing as the years go by.
I always come from a caring angle—which might differ from yours, yet is valid from my perspective.
I am complex and always evolving.
I am learning every day.
I am doing my best.

...and I am the one who will continue adding to this list, so it fully reflects my complexity.
