WELL DONE!
THE PROTECTION IN MY HEAD - IN SHORT
Anger or fear are essential resources when I need to protect myself.
I can leverage my Ego to protect myself: it will give me the energy and support me to do so.
Well positioned, the protection from my Ego is an incredible asset, available to me at any time.
THE PROTECTION IN MY HEAD - IN FULL
The Protection in my head is essential, as it triggers me to react when a situation does not suit me.
It is the mechanism my Ego uses to take care of me when I am not at ease.
I can decide to protect myself when I am impacted by a given situation. Some are very destabilizing and I cannot handle them alone. My Ego then gives me the courage to react the best I can, so I can step up for myself in the moment. Then, afterwards, I can take a step back and think about what happened.
The Protection in my head can also turn into self preservation - for instance when I need to let tears out, when I cannot keep all this sadness or frustration inside.
Activating the Protection in my head usually triggers anger, typically in situations where I need to push back or set limits. While anger does not have a good reputation, being able to use it in the context of protecting myself is healthy. It is OK to feel mad when I find it appropriate, and to use that anger to ensure I am heard.
The Protection in my head enters into play when my Ego and I are aligned. My Ego anticipates a threat, I agree with it and - together - we react accordingly.
The Protection in my head acts like a shield. I creates instant distance between myself and the situation, and prevents me from being hurt any further. When I protect myself, I am usually not able any more to listen to the person in front of me, as I need make a point.
Stepping up for myself does not always mean arguing. I can also choose, for instance, to remain silent or walk away. Plus - and that is very important: it is not about winning over the other person; it is about standing up for myself.
