WELL DONE!
CONNECTING TO MYSELF - IN SHORT
My mind is impossible to forget, yet I have 2 other more quiet partners that are equally important: my emotions and my body.
On top of my brain, my body sensations and my feelings are also valuable pieces of information to feed my Filter - so I have more options how to react.
When I am connected to myself, I am aware of how I feel (emotions and physically)
CONNECTING TO MYSELF - IN FULL
As I think all the time, I tend to forget that I am more than just a brain! I have emotions, and I have physical sensations too.
Connecting to myself consists in moving my attention from my brain to my emotions and my body. First of all, what emotion do I feel? Is it rather nice or disturbing? On a scale from 1 to 10, to which degree? And how does my body feel too: do I have tensions, or am I rather relaxed?
When I have physical sensations, it may be nice and I’ll just savour it. Or I have physical tension in parts of my body. Same as emotions, physical tensions are to alert me a given situation is unpleasant to me, and I should do something about it.
My Emotions can feed me, or on the other hand express a need I have and that is not met. Emotions are a good compass to assess how well I am. I also need to keep in mind that I do not ask myself for more than I can give. At every moment, I can fuel myself with what I need.
If the person in front of me is paying attention, he/she will be able to read with my body how I feel. My face and my voice reflect my emotions. My body language also discloses whether I am at ease or not. To be aligned with myself, when possible, I can phrase what makes me (un)comfortable. My Ego will help, fueling me with the energy to speak up!
When I have nice feelings, I should enjoy the moment. Or I have feelings I dislike - in which case I do go back to my head and exchange with my Ego, to understand what disturbs me so I can address it in the moment or later.
